About
My name is Helen Tanner. I am a clinical consultant and medical writer with more than 20 years across clinical practice, public health, and startup leadership. I have spent more than 10 years practicing as a PA-C, secured millions in funding for healthcare organizations including the VA and NIH, and served as VP of Clinical Development at a healthcare startup from inception through Series B. Early-stage companies are where I do my best work.
I write regularly and publicly on LinkedIn, and my work has been published on Doximity, a clinical platform of more than 3 million verified clinicians, and other clinical outlets. I founded The Early Hires, a podcast and growing community for clinicians navigating healthcare startups. I now channel all of that through Prescriptive Ink, serving early-stage companies, digital health organizations, healthcare startups and medical practices that need to speak credibly to providers and patients.
What I Bring
Clinical credibility
More than 10 years in family practice, caring for patients from pediatrics to geriatrics across private clinics, FQHCs, and startup medicine. I have trained clinicians and worked shoulder to shoulder with the full care team: physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, dentists, physical therapists, registered dietitians, and behavioral health therapists, inside health systems, hospitals, clinics, and practices. That is the range I can write for and speak to credibly, because I have practiced in it.
Clinical positioning
and messaging
I make your message land with clinicians. I position what you do so they act on it: want to use your product, join the team that delivers it, and partner to scale it. I learn your world and the language your audience actually speaks, write the pieces that resonate, and stay honest about whether the messaging is moving adoption and growth. This is commercial positioning for clinical audiences, not scientific accuracy for a journal or the AMA.
